AMANDA FAWCETT
Avian Art
My interest in birds soared in college when I took courses like Ornithology and Avian Microbiology, under the wing of my dear late professor Jed Burtt. Beyond trying my best to identify birds by visual and song, I paint them. My subjects include Ohio backyard birds, museum specimens, and species I observed during my time in Tanzania.

Safari Megafauna
From 2018-2020 I lived in a rural village in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania, teaching biology as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I had the privilege to go on safari in Ruaha, Mikumi and Lake Manyara National Parks during this time, and these adventures fulfilled childhood dreams and fed my truest self. My safari photos became reference for a series of acrylic illustrations.
